Who We Are:

Fung-Ming Kung, LAc.

Fung-Ming is a native of Taiwan who began her professional career as a home care nurse to directly provide compassionate medical care to those in need. After graduating with a bachelor’s of science in nursing, she worked as a home care registered nurse (RN) for 12 years brining her closer to her goal. As an RN she was well versed in the modern medicine approach to treating patients but had a desire to pursue a more natural medicine approach to patient care.  Specifically, because of the influence of Chinese culture, she was inspired to expand her medical training to include Chinese medicine to be part of her life journey.

The inspiration of the name “Phoenix Acupuncture” rises from Fung-Ming’s first name. Fung-Ming’s name in Chinese (鳳鳴) symbolizes Singing or Soaring Phoenix. The name was given by her late father. In Chinese culture, Phoenix is the auspicious symbol of Yin-Yang balance, renewal and transformation. Fung-Ming’s path is to help herself and others to bring the spirit of Phoenix to their journey of healing and wellness.

Our mission at Phoenix Acupuncture is to provide our patients with an integrated and holistic approach to healing. Not only assisting our patients with their healing process, we also enrich our patients’ lives by encouraging and motivating them to self-heal and by helping them unlock their healing potential.

Fung-Ming Kung, LAc is a licensed acupuncturist with a Master in Science of Oriental Medicine from the National University of Natural Medicine (formerly known as National College of Natural Medicine {NCNM}). After graduating from NCNM, Fung-Ming received a year of post graduate training as a resident in Chinese medicine, visceral manipulation and classical foot reflexology. Her practice combines ancient and modern medical understanding with compassionate, whole-person approach derived from eastern and western philosophy.

During her nursing experiences, Fung-Ming realized that healing is the process to become whole.[K1]  She then pursued training in holistic nursing and healing touch and became certified with American Holistic Nurse Association and Healing Touch International. Because her passion in the health care is to help self and others to heal from within, her current practice focuses not only on treating symptoms and its root cause(s) but also to empower patients to take control of their healing. In the treatment room, she combines acupuncture, Chinese herbs, natural supplements, Chinese massage therapy, energy therapy and manual therapy. She also utilizes a needleless acupressure method for patients who are sensitive to or fearful of needles.

In the treatment room, Fung-Ming often combines Chinese medicine along with energy work to treat a variety of pain, addictions, mental-emotional health, acute and chronic injuries.

Besides Chinese medicine, Fung-Ming also has special interest in practicing ancient Hawaiian healing Ho’oponopono, meditation and Qi gong for personal cultivation.

In her personal time, Fung-Ming enjoys reading (fiction and philosophy), hiking, traveling, card/I- Ching reading, candle-making and spending time with her family and friends.

I am very pleased with the results of the facial cosmetic acupuncture Fung Ming offers. The dark circles and puffiness under my eyes have been greatly reduced after ten treatments. My face also appears to be smaller. Fung Ming is a very competent and skillful Chinese medicine practitioner. She is gentle and caring, always making sure that I feel comfortable throughout the treatment. I highly recommend her service.
